2010 Sep Euro Trip - Day 3 - Rothenburg to Fussen (The Romantic Road)

We were wondering around the beautiful Rothenburg this morning, climbing up to one of the watching towers overlooking the whole town which was quite awesome. Then driving through the Romantic Road, down to Fussen to stay overnight. I had to say it was a mistake not to leave plenty time between Rothenburg and Fussen. There were so many beautiful places to stay on the way... Ah well, next time!!

Morning in Rothenburg

City Town Hall

There was a watching tower where you could climb up to see the whole town, highly recommended!
You wouldn't be regretted once you saw the scenery from up there.

There were quite a lot of shops in town and even though it's a touristy place, I felt they were not too expensive (compared to Australia).

Snow balls - a local speciality food

It's time to leave the beautiful Rothenburg. We bought some bread and drinks for picnic lunch and driving towards Fussen.

2010 Sep Euro Trip Day 2 - Rothenburg Ob Der Tauber

The second day of the trip.
We planned to do some city sightseeing in Frankfurt in the morning, however, we did not know that all shops were closed on Sundays. Only restaurants and cafes were open.
We picked up the rental car on 1:30pm, then heading down to Rothenburg O.D.T, which is well known for its well-preserved medieval old town and is the most popular town on the Romantic Road. This beautiful town is located on a plateau overlooking the Tauber river. The city of Rothenburg was founded at the time of the building of Staufer castle in 1170.
